Commitment

I registered for a half marathon in June. It is official, I know. But shall they cancel it or not, the goal is to get prepared no matter what. That’s the fun of it. And that’s what keeps me motivated to improve – because I am very happy with my cool running routine otherwise, althoughContinue reading “Commitment”

Threshold

The week end was magnificent. It was sunny, bright, with gorgous sun rise and clear atmosphere…. but cold! -12.5°C… I took my super long-run backpack with enough water, a bar of cereals, a head lamp and few extra cloths in case. As usual. There was not many people on the road, only few with theirContinue reading “Threshold”

Another week

The weekend went fast. The weather was mild, clouds dispersed, and every day few minutes more of sunlight… I heard for the first time the children ice-skating on the ponds and joyfully screaming, while the ice itself cracked on the ledges of the lakes with a thud. Deers, squirrels and foxes running in front ofContinue reading “Another week”

Mr. Jo had company

Another great day at Mount Desert Island. Virgin sky in the morning, warm colours as the sun rose, despite the very cold weather of – 14 degrees Celcius! A fine soft layer of yesterday’s snow was still there, covering the icy chunk of snow from the other days. A bit slippery and my super coiledContinue reading “Mr. Jo had company”

Like a Sunday

Today is Sunday. Sundays are synonyms of long runs, happiness, and calm. So here is what happened today: A Skype with my loved ones in Singapore, namely Fidel, Jules and Lea; Building a snow man after plowing the path for the first time in my life (as far as I remember); 14 km run atContinue reading “Like a Sunday”

Tropical

It was +6°C yesterday morning! When I went outside I thought I would almost go for a swim!! The snow melted during the night, and although the sky was heavy and foggy, blue sky appeared and I thought I could go for a long run. I also decided recently that I should really try toContinue reading “Tropical”

Colorful

I got internet this weekend. So I can write here again. I settled a bit more in my new home; enjoyed a couple of sunrises and sunsets; went for two runs in the surrounding in one and the other direction; but mostly moved all the boxes, suitcases, bike and clothes from one house to theContinue reading “Colorful”

Poem

The ocean was thundering: the water was agitated, the waves splashing on the rocks, and the wind, trying to find its way between the nude branches of the trees, was displacing the brown leaves on my path. But the sky was intense blue, white clouds moving fast and spreading around, and the sun, not warmingContinue reading “Poem”

Running in the cold

It was really cold this morning. -12 degrees Celcius. It was snowing during the night, and we could see the wind blowing in the trees and triggering local mini storm around the branches. Windy… It was my running day, so theoretically I should go out and run few miles. But I was sick last week,Continue reading “Running in the cold”

Schoodic peninsula

Schoodic peninsula is a bit more wild than the Mount Desert Island side of the Acadia Natural Park. It was some weeks ago, one of these very sunny days where you could count the clouds on the fingers of one hand. I wish you were there with me….
